Not a Dry Eye in the House

Actually, that’s a complete lie. Cindy’s eye gunk was a direct result of having her tear ducts blocked. They’re likely blocked because of damage done before we got her which was never treated and resulted in scarring that is blocking her tear ducts. So, it looks like Cindy will be on eye drops for a very long time if not forever. The swelling and scarring in her eye and tear ducts can be eased but not erased, so it’s something that even if she doesn’t have eye drops forever will need to be closely monitored.

And today I feel like a failing mother. According to the scale Cindy lost 0.6 pounds in three weeks and weighs 54.9 pounds?! Her harness is practically falling off her so I refuse to believe that scale is correct. But, when they weighed her a second time she was 55.5 pounds so maybe I should take that 0.6 and run with it?

On the positive side, all the chest x-rays were fine, they cleaned out her eye ball gunk and gave me two different medications for her eye. All that tired the poor girl out.

She decided the middle of the waiting room floor was a good place to flop down.

We go back for a re-check of her eye in six weeks to see if the medication seems to be working. Between now and then we’ll be doing laps around the apartment building to burn off that winter weight and get her beach-ready šŸ™‚
